Guided visits (CVE, APEMS)

Through multi-sensory visits, toddlers discover as many worlds and materials as creations. Colors, shapes, and textures spark curiosity and offer wonderful possibilities for interaction and sharing, even at the earliest age (as young as 2 years).

Unguided visits

  • The “mini-Brut” educational kits have been designed for early childhood educators who wish to wander freely through the Art Brut Collection with their groups (0-6 years). Thanks to The Artists' House and Colors Full of Eyes, the toddlers discover the museum and its works while having fun. Remember to book your mini‑kit in advance. Last‑minute museum visit? Call the reception to see if the kits are available…
  • “Six Little Stories of Art Brut” is an illustrated children’s book that tells Art Brut to toddlers (and older children) in a poetic and gentle way. This mediation tool should be seen as a three‑stage waltz (before‑during‑after): it can be read at the daycare to discover the characters; on site to find the artworks; and back at the daycare as a souvenir of the visit.
  • Prepare your visit with confidence by reading: Art Brut in Small Steps (practical tips).

Tools to accompany the discovery of Art Brut from an early age

The Art Brut Collection provides early childhood institutions and families with a series of tools designed to facilitate an autonomous, playful and progressive discovery of the museum.

The Cabin is an educational and multi‑sensory space custom‑designed for toddlers (0‑6 years). The CVE can freely introduce Art Brut to children at their own pace, in varied and playful forms (drawings, puzzles, assemblies). This space is unsupervised. Children must be under the supervision of the accompanying staff. Maximum capacity: 10 children.

Information

The Collection of Art Brut encourages CVE and APEMS to visit the museum several times a year, in order to provide a complete multisensory experience for the little ones. Our mediator is at your disposal to create custom collaborations. Contact

The cabin

Welcome to The Cabin, the brand-new educational space dedicated to ages 0-6, including puzzles, assemblies, drawings, treasure hunts, etc. What makes The Cabin innovative is that it is located in the heart of the museum (Jean Dubuffet area) and allows cohabitation of audiences. Open daily during museum hours (11 a.m.–6 p.m.), it offers the little ones the opportunity to discover Art Brut at their own pace, in a gentle space.

Designed as a free and unsupervised space, The Cabin remains under the responsibility of accompanying adults. It is part of the pilot project “Rethinking Diversity” promoted by the City of Lausanne, contributing to broadening access to cultural offerings, engaging with the public, opening the doors of cultural institutions, and promoting diversity.

Six short stories of Art Brut

This children’s book tells the story of Art Brut to both young and old. The lives and creations of six female and male authors, exhibited at the museum, are narrated and illustrated with tenderness and poetry. Six stories to read forward or backward, like a three‑beat waltz: at home, to discover these colorful characters; on site, to rediscover the works; back home, as a souvenir of the visit. The book is available in the libraries of the city of Lausanne, at the Childhood Education Resource Center (CRED) as well as at the sound library.
